Singapore Public Swimming Club

Public Swimming Club (PSC) was registered as a swimming-cum-water polo club in 1961 to participate in the local and overseas activities. A brainchild of a group of Tiger Club’s members, the project was spearheaded by John Gan, who was then a very prominent and versatile player feared by many of his counterparts. John singlehandedly recruited many youngsters from Yan Kit Road neighborhood and transformed them from immature, unruly, sometimes at risk youngsters into formidable water polo players of good character by imparting strong moral values and discipline to their system. John was solely instrumental in nurturing these new recruits who were wayward teenagers from a diversity of social and economic background. The Club subsequently became the top water polo club in Singapore.
